Writer's Block: Cinco de Mayo - Not a rock, I'm just Ruth
All Me, no apologies
Writer's Block: Cinco de Mayo
Do you consider yourself patriotic? If so, how do you express it?

It was no holiday. It was just an ordinary day at the mall. There were five of them waiting in line at the Quizno's; an older couple, two little boys, a young pregnant woman and a young man in a wheelchair. He was wearing an army jacket.

I simply walked up to them. "Sir, will you do me the honor of letting me pay for your food?"

"You don't have to do that. . ." began the young man.

"Please let me."

"Thank you," said the young woman.

"No, ma'am," I said. "Thank you. Thank all of you."

You are a darling.
I'm all down with the anti war, but everybody wants to make it antisoldier, and nobody should ever try to make the soldiers feel unappreciated.
