Day 18 and Day 19 - 543 words
Confessions of a Three Eyed Fag Hag

"Ziggy?" he blinked. "Oh, yeah. I know everyone here calls me that, but that's not my name. My name is Jopher. Jopher Arkan."

"So glad to meet you at last!" Maddy shook his hand. "What brought you to our fair city, Jopher?"

"I was coming to find someone." He made a face, "my grandfather and her grandmother arranged a marriage between us when we were only children and I was coming to try and work out some way to break the agreement."

"Who was the lucky girl?" I asked wryly.

"Amalthea Whitsun."

"WHAT!" I had to sit down. Grandmother Seeley was dead; besides, I doubt she'd want me to get married. She was mad enough at Dad when he brought my stupid third eye into the family, which meant. . .

Damn it! No wonder Mother kept blathering about me carrying on the maternal line. I was not going to call her because I'd only end up screaming at her when I should be screaming at Grandmother Whitsun. Screaming at Grandmother Whitsun wouldn't do any good, she'd just turn off her hearing aid.

"You're supposed to marry Tia?" Pavel sputtered, "then why were you trying to drag me into the shower?"

"I was?" He blushed. "Oh, God, I'm sorry."

"Well, guess what, I knew nothing about this agreement so I'm not about to marry you." I poured myself some tea to keep my hands steady.

"You're. . ." He blinked. "Really? Grandfather said the agreement was like a spell and would draw us together – I'm sorry."

"For what? You were completely detached from reality for the last three years."

"How did that happen, by the way?" asked Roger. I gave a guilty start. I'd almost forgotten he was here.

According to Jopher, he was tired and a little lonely after arriving in town. In the bar at the hotel he met a fascinating man who offered to take him to a club called "Rippers." I groaned. "Rippers" is where the vamps hang out. There's only a half-dozen of them in town and they love "Rippers" Goth ambiance.

I bet the guy who took him there was a vamp. Heartless blood suckers, the lot of them – Jopher remembers being bought a drink and then everything went weird. Probably roofied and the drug threw his aura wacko - his "date" undoubtedly dumped him and ran.

"I'm surprised no one from your family came looking for you." Maddy said.

"I'm sort of the black sheep." Jopher looked away. "I'm gay and . . ."

Pavel suddenly got this dreamy look on his face. I appealed to the ceiling with all three eyes. Just what I needed – Pavel in love again.

Roger suggested we might as well go to breakfast. At the twenty-four hour diner I did a reading for Maddy.

"Ten of cups, the rainbow of family happiness." I laid down the cards. "Ten of pentacles, the card of the patriarch and Four of Cups, the card of marriage and celebration." I grinned at him. "You'll be dancing at a wedding, Maddy."

"I wouldn't mind that at all, Magic Girl." Maddy patted my hand. "I only want to see my family happy." He smiled tenderly at Roger.

Roger silently appealed to the ceiling. I chuckled softly. I was starting to like him.
I'm starting to rethink first person - only because Pavel wants some of his POV. . .
