Day 9 - 247 - Not a rock, I'm just Ruth
All Me, no apologies
Day 9 - 247
"So, Roger." I smiled because this wasn't _his_ fault. "What brings you to our fair city?"

He smiled nervously. "I'm thinking of opening my own repair shop." He said. "Dad says there's a little place on Plymouth that's still empty."

"Oh, yeah!" I said. "That's a block from the temple." At the end of Rainbow Row is Temple Beth Talmud – where the Jewish neighborhoods begin. Cute little kids in yarmulkes run all over the place. Selena runs an ice cream parlor right next to it.

Roger was. . . nice. Not exceptionally handsome; olive skin, dark hair, pretty typical Italian but nothing like Ginger's boy friend Vinnie who's better known as "the Gorilla" because I swear I've never seen another man with more hair. He seemed as uncomfortable as I was. The hostesses were passing out plastic cups of cheap champagne. We tried to mingle but somehow ended up "herded" back together. It was a freaking conspiracy.

Maddy went to the door and cut the ribbon. The big pink neon sign lit up and the band started up. Jeri and Mikki took to the stage for a version of "Dancin' in the Street." Mikki is the top drag king of the club and gets her name from the fact she does a scarily accurate Mick Jagger. She looks even more like him since her radical mastectomy.

"Mikki looks pale." I yelled in Roger's ear. "I hope that doesn't mean she's on chemo again."

"She?" He gaped. I started laughing.

We tried to mingle but somehow ended up "herded" back together. I liked this line, the whole street wants to match make them! (they're doomed, aren't they T_T)

I wouldn't say doomed - but seriously inconvenienced - yes.
