And I love the way she sings it.

All props to Jeff Buckley and Leonard Cohen, but THIS is my favorite version of the song. I feel such overwhelming emotion when I hear it.

It's so much better live. She sings it on her album "Hymns of the 49th Parallel" but live is just an incredbile experience.

I love this song, and I never heard her sing it! Oh my that goes right down the spine! I think she's the first woman I've ever heard sing it (Not counting myself in the shower ;-P)

Beautiful. k.d. lang's pretty cool. I've loved some of her music and while other things she's put out haven't been my cup of tea- However, that said I've always applauded her diversity, that she can weave her way in and out of so many different styles and genres.

This was awesome, thanks for posting!

You're welcome! I confess I like more of her early music better than some of her newer pieces, but in May 0f 2004 (just before the release of Hymns of the 49th Parallel) I had a chance to see her in concert and she sang this.

I fell in love.

She sounds so much better live - if you ever get the chance to see her "Live by Request" DVD it will blow you away.
